Christmas Dresses

One of my favorite Christmas memories of my childhood is of my Grandma Rock and Mom sewing Christmas dresses for me, my sisters, and cousins. Usually they were all made from the same pattern but were different colors. I am sure everyone else appreciated that more than I did, because I was the oldest and did not have to wear all the hand-me-downs.

I was always a Christmas snooper. I remeber hoping to get clues about my Christmas dress from looking in the trash for fabric scraps. It was fun to put on a new dress and twirl around to see the skirt billow out.

I decided to make Christmas dresses this year for Piper, Maecy and Emily. It turned out to be a larger job than I anticipated. In fact I called on my daughter Jessica for help. Below are the results.

Thanksgiving 2009

For a family with 13 children, we had a small Thanksgiving Day dinner. I had to work the day after which eliminated our chances of leaving town. I did NOT get up and do the Black Friday shopping thing either.

Sherwin's children Dale and Suzanne were able to come for Thanksgiving dinner along with my daughter Jessica, and her family.

After eating we played a game of Cranium and Boggle.

Suzanne and Dale in front of the historic log house Dale is working on.

Mike laughing at Sherwin as he tries to do one of the Cranium challenges of going from a laying position to a standing position with a cube on your head and being unable to use your hands. BTW he actually succeded. Well...maybe he used the table to push himself up. What do you think?

Here is Mike and Dale with their arms linked trying to push themselves to their feet while balancing frogs on their heads.

This is our Thanksgiving table with the pretty flowers that Sherwin got me for our tenth wedding anniversary.

Having fun with the camera

My aching back!

Maecy learned how to say dad and wave. She is so much fun and adored by all her fans!

Phelps Kid's Halloween

Carla sent these photos of Bradley and Karley carving pumpkins. It looks like they had a lot of fun with it.

They also had some cute costumes but the pictures they sent turned out a little too dark to get all the detail.

The finished products!
