An Afternoon with the Haddox Family

Hyrum was proud that he could climb the tree in their yard and wanted Sherwin to take pictures of him.  We later took a walk to the neighborhood park.  It was a beautiful spring afternoon.

Hyrum, here are the pictures that you wanted......

Shaken Baby Humanitarian Project

These are some hats I made for one of our projects at the Humanitarian Center.  We made the purple hats as an educational tool for the hospitals to give to parents of  the new born babies along with information on Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Shaking a baby can cause serious damage or death.  Parents or care givers can become frustrated when a baby cries for extended periods of time.  The education information teaches parents about "purple crying" and how to deal with it.

This is only one of the many worthwhile projects we work on at the center.  All the supplies are donated and the center is non profit.

Springtime

A few day ago we had 60 MPH winds and lost a few shingles off our roof.  Parts of Ammon was without power because of downed trees.  Yesterday we had snow.   This morning when I left for my water aerobics class it was 26 degrees outside.  This is spring in Idaho.

On the bright side, we can look around and see signs of new life.  Baby calves are grazing in the fields on wobbly new-born legs.  The geese are showing off their newly hatched goslings.  There are a few daffodils and tulips in bloom.  My apricot tree (which has never produced a single apricot in 10 years) is starting to blossom.

A week ago we had weather in the low seventies.  Because we were so eager for spring, we plowed up and planted our garden spot and pruned our trees and raspberry patch.  If we are idiots then so is our neighbor Scott because he was out doing the same thing.  Maybe it was just friendly neighborhood competition that drove us to this temporary insanity.  We will probably both be out re-planting in a couple of weeks while cursing the Idaho weather under our breath.
