Sherwin and I took a short trip to Oregon over the Easter holiday. We stopped along the way and met my daughter Julie, and her husband in Oregon for a quick visit and bite of lunch. We saw the rig that Gene drives for Frys every day. Julie looked great! I wish I was as slender as she is!! They will be coming out here for a visit in May.

It is about a 12 hour drive to Sherwin's daughter, Carla"s, home. WAY too long to do in one day but that is what we did. Next time visit we are going to break it down.

On the way back we stopped in Boise for a short visit with my son James and his family. It was good to see the grandchildren. I think Ethan who is 13 is almost as tall as I am. Isaac is getting his permanent teeth and losing his little boy looks. The baby, Maecy, has the longest eyelashes I have ever seen on a baby. She is adorable and so is her big sister Piper. James posted some pictures of our visit on his blog. Hope we can have a longer visit with them this summer.

There is a lot of beautiful scenery in Oregon. Sherwin took the above photo at the Oregon Gardens which is near Silverton. The picture below is of Multonmah Falls in the Columbia Gorge. Sherwin took lots of great photos. They look good as screen savers on our computers.

We had a great visit with Carla and her family. They are great hosts. Carla made a wonderful Easter dinner. David smoked the ham in their meat smoker. Carla made all the fixins including Key Lime cheese cake. Yummy!! Karley and Bradley were excited about their Easter egg hunt . I was amazed to see how much the children have grown in just a year! We enjoyed watching them play.

Bradley and Karley had a good time at the Tulip Festival. There were several activities designed for children. There was even a demonstration on making wooden shoes!

It was nice to get away from work for awhile and spend some time with Sherwin. We always have a good time traveling together. Below are some more pictures of our trip.

Oregon Trip

Karley and Bradley

Bradley had a blast playing on a bungy jump ride at the Tulip Festival.

Below, Karley is discovering the goodies in her Easter Basket.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

Here are some pictures that were taken at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Silverton Oregon. Because the weather was a little cooler this year, some of the tulips were not fully open. Our favorite tulips at the festival were
Karley, Carla and Bradley
pictured below

The tulips and daffodils were
beautiful.Large crowds of
people come every year
to see them.

Sherwin had a lot of fun playing with his camera. If you come to visit we can show you a hundred pictures or more of the tulip fields. Below is Karley posing for grandpa.

I left with a catalog of the different varities of tulips. Some of them are a dollar a bulb! Still it is tempting when you picture all of that luscious color in your own flower bed.

Spring in Idaho

Sherwin spotted this phesant in our back yard and snapped a picture through the window. His colors are pretty even though the picture was taken from far away.

I remember my brother Jack giving me a ride to school in his car when I was in Jr. High and he was in High School. He usually kept a shot gun in his car and if he spotted a phesant along the way, he would pull over and shoot it. Then he would take it to Mom to prepare it for dinner.

Back then, it was common for boys to have guns in their cars and pocket knives in their pockets. I don't think we ever had a shooting incident at school back then.

Times have definately changed!
